Christmas is a time for giving and Becketts have certainly done that this year. Throughout the year we try and support as many local charities, businesses, schools and sports clubs as we possibly can. Here are just some of the great things, we have managed to do in 2021.
Gift Vouchers and Luxury Hampers
We have donated a combined total of around ยฃ3500 worth of gift vouchers and luxury gift hampers to local schools, churches and community events.
Token Scheme
We have donated almost ยฃ4000 through our Becketts Farm Community Fund Scheme. The donations have gone to many local charities this year including; Arrive Alive, Crafting for Communities, Hollytrees, Solihull Conservation Volunteers, SEND Socials Birmingham, The Lily Mae Foundation, NICE โ Centre for Movement Disorders, Reachout Birmingham and Our Lady of the Wayside Pre-school.
Fresh Food
Our usual charity donations are in the form of Restaurant and Farm Shop Gift Vouchers. However on occasion we do also donate some fresh food from the Farm Shop.
We have donated x1000 eggs to the Birmingham Christmas Shelter. This is one of the only homeless shelters in Birmingham that are open throughout the whole of December, including Christmas Day. We have donated around ยฃ400 worth of Bakery treats including farmhouse cakes, mince pies and luxury cupcakes throughout the year. Plus ยฃ200 worth of chutneys and jams to Brandwood Community Centre for hampers for the elderly.
Charity Events and Sponsorships
In May we sponsored Rubbish Friends Wythall, ยฃ300 to purchase some new litter picking equipment and during the month of December we sponsored the Wythall Winter Wonderland ยฃ600 to purchase some Christmas presents for their Santa experience. We also supported the Wythall Witch Walk and Halloween in Hollywood by donating 3 ยฃ50 luxury hampers, and ยฃ40 worth of pumpkins.
Other larger charities we have supported throughout the year have been;
NHS Charities Together – ยฃ980 (Sunflower Just Giving Page)
Poppy Appeal – ยฃ503.52
Macmillan – ยฃ50
St Basils โ Around ยฃ300 in monetary donations and weโre now collecting items too.
Save the Children – ยฃ127.40 (Christmas Jumper Day)
2021 has been a quieter year for donations, which after reading the above may come as a surprise to you. We hope to support more charities and the community in 2022.
